NARROWINGS & CALMINGS
Foothill Boulevard/Citrus Avenue Improvements
Client: Azusa Pacific University, City of Azusa, City of Glendora, Citrus College
Due to the high numbers of student pedestrians and bicyclists, the Cities and the colleges decided to
narrow Foothill Boulevard to provide space for a class 1 bike lane for a 1/2 mile length along the north
side of the street (pictured right). They also wanted a new right turn pocket on Citrus Avenue
accessing Citrus College (pictured left). As a result of these roadway changes drainage modifications,
signal modifications, and striping modifications were also required as well as new ADA compliant curb
ramps and driveway approaches.
The volume of pedestrian traffic using the City sidewalk necessitated the widening of the existing
sidewalk to provide adequate width for both pedestrians and bicycles.
We prepared preliminary design and final construction documents.
