Orange Fire Station #8
Client: Nicoloff & Associates
Civil Works Engineers was part of the project team to design a new permanent fire station and
command center at the site of an existing temporary fire station. The temporary station included
portable buildings and a small parking lot. The project was required to maintain operation of the
existing fire station while building the new station.
The new station building was located at the corner of Cannon Street and Carver Lane. The site was
constrained by the existing fire station and a major 109” MWD water pipeline and easement. Due to
the new building location, an existing City water pump station was also impacted and required
CWE responsibilities included field survey, base mapping, site design, site grading, drainage, parking
lot improvements, new utility services, and relocation of the pump station. Improvements and utilities
within the MWD easement required special design to meet all MWD requirements and clearances. Site
drainage utilized vegetated swales to treat runoff from the parking lot and drive aisles.
