Irvine Transportation Center Parking Structure
Client: International Parking Design
Civil Works Engineers
performed the civil engineering for the construction of a new
4-level, 1,495 space parking structure at the site of an existing surface parking lot and drive aisles. The parking structure serves the existing
Irvine Transportation Center and train station. The project also included construction of a new
pedestrian plaza and commercial stores adjacent to the parking structure.
CWE prepared the site grading, drainage and utility improvements. These included a new access
road, plaza hardscape, new accessible sidewalks and major utility relocations. Existing sewer, water,
storm drains, gas services and electrical services were in conflict
with the new improvements and
required relocation or new services. Utility work was coordinated with Irvine Ranch Water District, The
Gas Company, County of Orange, AT&T and Southern California Edison.
Also, during construction of the structure a temporary surface parking lot was required to replace the
existing surface parking lot. CWE completed the grading and drainage plans for
the temporary lot. These
plans were completed separately and prior to the structure plans. The temporary lot was constructed
in an adjacent vacant lot.
